Tallinn Digital Summit takes place tomorrow, providing the opportunity to gain unique insights from the global leaders of the public sector and tech community
The 6th annual summit brings together top politicians, opinion leaders, entrepreneurs, academia and the technology community to draw attention to the importance of digital change and address its impact on economies, societies, people and countries. Nearly 500 guests from 70 countries from around the world are arriving in Estonia, including various high-level ministers, heads of government, politicians and representatives of international organizations and companies with the aim to draw attention to the importance of changes in the digital field and discuss their impact on the economy, society, people and countries.
The summit is hosted by the Prime Minister of Estonia and is attended by European and Asian prime ministers, ministers of foreign affairs and digital development, as well as high-level representatives of influential international organizations, academics and representatives in the private sector, with the programme including various presentations, panel discussions, presentations on the topics of artificial intelligence, sustainability, cyber security and resilience. Among others, Thierry Breton, Commissioner for the Internal Market of the European Commission, Alex Karp, CEO of Palantir Technologies, and Doreen Bogdan-Martin, Secretary General of the International Telecommunications Union, will take the stage as keynote speakers. “This year’s summit focuses on understanding and refreshing the relationship between technology and democracy. The realisation globally is that the magic key to solving the challenges of an open society is not based on technology alone, but successful implementation of changes requires synergy across sectors. Tallinn Digital Summit brings together policymakers and the technology sector to discuss how democracy can keep up with new technologies and make the most of it,” commented Prime Minister Kaja Kallas on the importance of the event.
The key themes of the event this year are as follows: government as the platform for a digital society, rethinking and transforming sustainability, digital solutions as tools to accelerate the achievement of climate goals, creating a cyber-secure society, secure design technology and Global Gateway.
“More than ever before, attention must be paid to how democratic digital societies can cope in extreme conditions, at the same time offering e-services to their citizens, keeping the country running and at the same time successfully developing their digital country.”
This year’s Tallinn Digital Summit includes a virtual EXPO that brings together representatives of the public sector with companies from around the world with the aim of presenting the latest products, services and solutions related to the five main investment priorities of the European Union initiative “Global Gateway”: digital, climate and energy, transport, healthcare, education and research.
